Ivy Kon Siaw Wei

Managing Partner (BC Member No.:BC/I/302)

Ivy was called to the Malaysian Bar as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in August 2008. She was then appointed as the Legal Officer and subsequently the Senior Legal Officer in the Bar Council Malaysia (Division of Advocates & Solicitors Disciplinary Board of Malaysia). She then joined a reputable legal firm as a Senior Legal Associate before she started her own legal firm, Messrs Ivy Kon & Partners, in year 2014.

Focus and Experience

Ivy’s primary areas of practice are real property law and conveyancing. However, she has the experiences of handling general litigation and criminal briefs. In general she has exposures to the following:-

  • Conveyancing (property transaction and loan documents);
  • Foreign Investments;
  • Loan documentation including syndicated loans;
  • Corporate Takeovers and Mergers;
  • Securities Documentation;
  • Joint Venture Agreements for development of lands;
  • Leases and Tenancies;
  • General Civil Litigation particularly debt collection, bankruptcy and execution proceedings such as foreclosure and attachment proceedings, distress proceedings, applications for specific performance of contracts, summary judgments, matters relating to directors of companies, various business transaction agreements, probate and administration of estates and hire-purchase claims, to name a few;
  • The preparation of sale and purchase agreements, deeds of mutual covenants, deeds of assignments and re-assignments and leases and tenancies for the shopping mall project and other strata project;
  • Divorce proceedings – Joint and Single Petition, Registration of Foreign Divorce Order etc;
  • Wills and trust deeds;
  • In criminal proceedings, Penal Code, Immigration, Plea Bargaining etc; and
  • Administrative proceedings – judicial review etc.

Training and Lecturing

While developing an extensive practice in the areas mentioned above, she maintained her interest in lecturing and training. She lectured the subjects of Intellectual Property Law and other law related subjects in her capacity as Senior Lecturer in various colleges and also for the franchise 3+0 degree course offered by Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), UK, on part-time basis. She also conducted law training for SMEs in several colleges, i.e HELP University, Kolej YPC and etc.

Abang Noorhatta Bin Abang Rambli

Noorhatta was called to the Malaysian Bar as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in May 2009.

He was then practised as an Advocates and Solicitors in MESSRS ABDUL RAHMAN AZUBIR & CO (ADVOCATES & SOLICITORS), Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur in 2009 . In the year of 2010, Noorhatta left ABDUL RAHMAN AZUBIR & CO to join MESSRS NORAISYAH & CO (ADVOCATES & SOLICITORS), Kuala Lumpur before he joined the legal firm of Messrs Ivy Kon & Partners as a Partner of the firm.

Focus and Experience

Noorhatta’s primary areas of practising are generally in Civil General Litigation matters. He has the experiences of handling civil litigation trials such as banking litigation, land related matters, application for Probate and letter of administration and Shipping related matters.  

Apart from handling the litigation related matters, Noorhatta also acting as a Consultant in some Company Secretary firms to advise them on the company related issues and law. He is also experience in handling the foreigner clients particularly advising them on the procedures and rules of the setting up company in Malaysia.  In addition, he is acting as a Liaison on behalf of the Client to liaise with Government related departments such as Immigration Department and Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia particularly in relation to his clients’ application on the setting up of company and business in Malaysia and others related matters

Nur Nina Syarfa’ Binti Abd Ghani

Nina was called to the Malaysian Bar as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in April 2019. She was then joined the legal firm of Messrs Ivy Kon & Partners as a Legal Assistant of the firm.

Focus and Experience

Nina’s primary areas of practice are real property law and conveyancing. Nina mainly focuses on handling sub-sale, loan and other conveyancing files up until completion. Apart from handling the conveyancing matters, Nina also actively involved in handling Civil General Litigation such as application for Probate, letter of administration and other related matters.

Apart from handling the litigation related matters, Noorhatta also acting as a Consultant in some Company Secretary firms to advise them on the company related issues and law. Mr. Wu

Apart from the Partners & Legal Associate we have mentioned above, we currently have a Chief Legal Executive Mr. Wu specializing in our practice areas, especially in conveyancing and bank loan documentations, property laws and corporate advisory, both for private companies and listed companies. He has over 30 years of relevant experiences, both local and oversea (inter alia, to name a few, Hong Kong & China).

Mr. Chin

We have also engaged a Senior Legal Clerk Mr. Chin to manage the overall conveyancing and litigation practices. We have also engaged various supporting staff to support our overall legal practice “eco system”, from Land Office Filing Specialist to Legal Secretary & Clerk, to ensure the smooth, efficient & effective execution of our works.   

Mr. Cheh

We are currently working with Messrs. Keng Soon & Co to support our Construction Laws Advisory, Litigation, CIPPA & Arbitration practice. The Owner of Messrs. Keng Soon & Co, Mr. Cheh Keng Soon has dual qualifications in law and construction management and he has vast practical construction experiences as he has vast working experience with a listed construction company.

Ms. Siaw

As for Criminal Defence, we are currently working with Messrs. Chooi Chin & Co. The Owner of Messrs. Chooi Chin & Co, Ms. Siaw Chooi Chin is a former Deputy Public Prosecutors of the Attorney General’s Chambers and she has vast experience in criminal litigation.
